Neurodivergent Children's Hearing Care
The Sunny Experience at Hearing Excellence Clinic, Scarborough
A warm welcome to our case study! Today, we will share an inspiring patient experience, spotlighting our commitment to providing tailored, compassionate care for neurodivergent children at our Hearing Excellence Clinic in Scarborough.
We had the pleasure of caring for a wonderful child named Sunny, whose sparkling curiosity and boundless energy brought an extra ray of sunshine into our clinic. A child with neurodivergence, Sunny visited us to assess his hearing capabilities, guided through his journey by our adept audiologist, Hanine.
Hanine, known for her patient-friendly approach and dedication, combines her professional experience with cutting-edge diagnostic tools to create an empowering and comfortable experience for children like Sunny. Utilizing the Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) test, she evaluated the functionality of Sunny’s inner ear in a non-invasive manner. Hanine then conducted a Tympanometry (Tymp) test to gauge the condition of Sunny’s middle ear, eardrum, and ossicles.
But, it was the final test – Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) in a soundfield setting – that truly transformed Sunny’s experience. Designed specifically for children, the VRA test turned the clinical process into an interactive game, making Sunny feel at ease. In this test, Sunny was asked to locate sounds from different directions, followed by visual rewards to reinforce his responses.
With the help of these advanced tools, Hanine provided an accurate diagnosis while keeping the process engaging and comfortable for Sunny. Sunny’s parents appreciated this holistic approach that catered not just to the clinical requirements but also considered Sunny’s unique needs and comfort.
This story of Sunny’s journey through his hearing assessment embodies our mission at Hearing Excellence Clinic in Scarborough. We’re dedicated to providing patient-friendly experiences that go beyond just hearing health care. Our goal is to create a comfortable, engaging, and positive environment for neurodivergent children, ensuring they feel understood and cared for while receiving a high standard of auditory care.
